Creative Storytelling Using Digital Media:


Needed:

  • Digital Camera

  • Images Downloaded from a Copyright Free Site

  • Software like Photostory

Plan:

* Show students some examples of what you want then to do.

* Have students take up to 10 photos from their environment, class, school using the digital camera.

* Have them then transfer these into a folder with their name on.

* Have some extras (previously downloaded from a cc site) which are easily available and accessible to students and which are clearly labeled as to content.

* Explain copyright issues to students.

* Provide a quick overview of the software to be used if students have never come across this before. From then on as you explain any aspect to a student, write them up (name & skill displayed) as the expert so that they can reach others in the room.

* Students then begin the creative writing process that uses the images gathered.

  1. - Review Success Criteria / Expectations / Audience

  2. - Draft a storyboard, planning what they want to present.

  3. - Discuss this with a peer for new suggestions.

  4. - Edit

  5. - Review With Teacher

  6. - Students then begin the presentation on computer

  7. - Review against desired outcomes.

  8. - Refine

  9. - Evaluate: What Did they Do Well In Their Presentation Process & Outcome? What Would They Do Differently Next Time?
